Whoa! I had forgotten just how amazing this album is as I’m reluctant to dig out my vinyl very often. Much of the shimmer of later albums seemed a bit muted here (more a reflection my faded memory and previously playing my records to death); the remaster corrects this and it sounds as invigorating as ever.Worth the price of entry for the detailed liner notes alone (wish they would have included lyrics, but hey), this is a no-brainer (sorry, that wasn’t intentional) for the Live Skull fan as the extra tracks are damn near essential listening instead of trite remixes that seem to append any reissues (do I sound bitter?) anymore.And upon relistening to the album after several years of neglect, it is all sprawl and chaos and serves pretty much as the Rosetta Stone for all their albums. What was previously a difficult listen upon release now makes perfect sense with some 30 years gone. This isn’t some nostalgia for some bygone era; this album sounds just as forceful and urgent today.People unfamiliar with Live Skull's brand of carefully crafted noise might be advised to start elsewhere, as it is still pretty raw in places. But others with a taste for challenging music, look no further. This is an album that reveals itself in bloody chunks upon successive listens, and continues to be a heady mix of thunder and light.God bless Desire Records for bringing this back from the dead.
